As was announced via the official Facebook page of the Harry Potter series on the afternoon of Friday the 26th, the serie, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be returning.
After a year-long hiatus, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is finally returning to Melbourne.
The production will resume at the Princess Theatre from Thursday night with a COVIDSafe Plan in place to protect cast, crew and audience members.
The performance was originally set to run from March 18 to April 12 2020, but that changed after the State of Emergency was declared.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child broke Australian theatre records in its first year, attracting over 320,000 people, making it the most successful play in the country’s history.
It ran at the Princess Theatre in February 2019 and was the third city in the world to host it after London and New York.
“Melbourne is the only place in the world staging Harry Potter and the Cursed Child right now, which is something to celebrate,” Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula said in a statement.
“With theatregoers coming to town to see this magical production, the city’s restaurants, bars and hotels will reap the benefits with more people out and about enjoying the very best of Melbourne.”
Tickets can be purchased online and bookings are being taken until August.
There will be a crowd limit and audience members are required to wear masks.
